The third time Jess Crenshaw talks to Terence Grayson, they run into each other -- quite literally -- in a "dine in the dark" restaurant. It does not take long for them to build a quick connection and their night ends on Terence's bed, feeling more complete than ever before.
That is, until the morning after, when Terence wakes up to find Jess gone. There is no note in his house and no number in his phone. Thus begins a race to uncover the truth of who Jess is, and why she left. What was it that scared her so much? Why would she give a night of pure bliss away? Where had they gone wrong?
And the most important question of all: what happened the first two times Jess and Terence spoke to each other?
