Prologue

I stood on the edge, the tips of my dirty white converse catching glimpses of the busy street below. Laughing kids that looked like dolls from my view skipped home, and I remembered when I was that age. I bit back a sad smile, and resumed the video.

“I love you Mom. Dad. I really do.” And the red light clicked off. I gulped; it was now or never. If I didn’t jump I would go back to that pain. The pain that occupied my thoughts. But if I jumped, I would die. I wouldn't come back. It would be the end. Maybe I shouldn't. I pushed the questioning thoughts out of my head and prepared myself for the fall. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, and then willed my body to move towards the edge, towards the awaiting street. The hard, cold street.

“STOP!” I turned around to see a desperate boy with his mop of curls all in his face.

“Why” I answered blanky, it seemed as though everything happy had disappeared in my life.

“Because I love you”
