Howard is gay, only he's very popular because he has never told anyone. Everyone thinks he's straight. He has girls all over him, guys wanting to be his friends, and he's on the basketball team.
Martin is gay, only he has never told anyone. It's not because he's scared, he's actually really open about his sexuality. It's just that he never really talks and most of the time people don't even notice his presence.
Howard has liked Martin for a long time now.
