Ten year old Elizabeth Smith has a fairly boring life, but a good one. The young girl lives in a small town outside of Pittsburgh with her loving and supporting family. Together with her friends, she attends dance classes four days a week in hopes that she'll one day move to New York and make it on Broadway. Elizabeth has often been told that she has everything it takes to make it in the big world, but those dreams will have to wait when her best friend, Cara Williams, suddenly goes missing without a trace. Elizabeth, shaken by the news, becomes miserable four weeks later, finding out that her beloved friend was found dead in her own dance studio. After multiple investigations, the police comes to the conclusion that the young girl had taken her own life, but after receiving her friends diary as a gift from Mme.Williams, Elizabeth believes otherwise. Cara had been writing about a strange man following her around for two weeks before she had disappeared, making Elizabeth start her own little investigation...
