Penelope Gilbert is Elena and Jeremy Gilbert's big sister. The free spirited fun loving, traveler big sister. She's always tried to be there for her siblings, but in these past years while she was at college after her parents death, she let them slip away. Having met the Salvatore brothers, Penelope now knows of the existence of vampires, doppelgängers, werewolves and even hybrids. Penelope now returns to mystic falls several months after her Aunt Jenna's death, and she returns with a secret, of her own.
