I always knew he'd join the Marines, there was never a doubt in my mind.
I didn't want Niall to leave, he was my best friend and I didn't know what I would do if something happened to him out there. I'd be so lost. Even though I wished he could stay, I was darn well proud of him for the sacrifices he'd made and the fact that he was willing to put his life on the line for his country.
Two years he'd be gone. Two years I'd be worried sick between letters.
This is the story of us. Best friends, forever and always.

I'm scared. Really, really scared. I'm about to be hunted by 22 other people. The tribute I came here with and I already decided to be allies, one of us needing to go home. I have hunting skills and he knows how to fight. I can't believe I'm going in with him. I've loved him for a long time and here we are, going in these awful, disgusting games together. Should I tell him? Let him know about how I love him? Or will it effect our game? And for better or for worse? 3,2,1..... And the games have begun. He left me, I cried for him everyday hoping this was all a joke and he'd come back, but no he left. I trained hard making sure that my bow and arrow skills stayed bright, fueling my work with anger. I have mastered everything and I refuse to forgive him, I hate him. My anger grows more everyday as my sadness dissapears. The argument that started it will also end it he doesn't love me and I refuse to be a fan of his. So if he does care he would come and find me only he doesnt care and never will. These are my thoughts, but not my wishes. I want him to care, but I don't want him to find out why. He can't save me from my thoughts they are mind after all. Noone can or will know because they will send me away. My thoughts they tell me to do unspeakeable things, but they disapear when he is around, they don't like him, they are afraid of him. That's why I try to stay a respectable distance from him. My thoughts are dark, but they don't control me, I control them, I can get them to stop in fact I already have, they only fuel up when I'm angry or upset. "Why can't you tell me?" He yelled. "Because if I do then you'll leave me!" I yelled back. That is right he will leave and make sure they take you away. I covered my ears the voices they were back. "Shut up." I dropped to my knees. He ran to me. "What is wrong?" I looked at him as the voices stopped and hugged him. This was my guardian and it all started the day he came back, Came back for me.Complete

I look into the blue eyes of my best friend and it feels like staring down a stranger. They are familiar and foreign all in the same moment, glossy and pleading. The dimly lit street allows only enough light to cast glimmers on our faces and subtle shadows on the ground. It's raining but I've hardly noticed; all I see is him. "Megan please don't go," he says desperately. "I-I'm sorry." A tear falls steadily down my cheek. I don't want to go but I have to be strong for myself. I run forward and wrap my arms around him in a hug. "I love you Niall," I say near his ear, "I just don't like the person you've become." I hold back a sob, "When my best friend comes back tell him to find me." I don't say another word I just go, leaving him all alone in the dark street...Complete
