It's been 9 years since Pitch Black was 'imprisoned' in his own lair by the fearlings and the Guardians, Jamie's on his last year of high school, preparing for college, and he's having more and more trouble believing in Jack every winter. On top of that a mysterious spirit has arrived claiming Pitch is back, ready for revenge and determined again to have Jack on his side.
(In Rise of the Guardians Jamie was 8 and Sophie was 2... I totally had to google it)
