Based in the late 1800's lost Aubrey looks for ways to distract herself from her parent's death by reading , going to church, and volunteering with her best friend Anna.  One day her and Anna go to volunteer at a mental hospital and connect with some of the patients and learn of their "psychiatric" stories.  Most of them women put there by their husbands for being out of line and unladylike.  In hopes of helping the patients, Aubrey and Anna plot to release them but the other nurses and doctors become suspicious.  Suddenly, certain areas are heavily blocked by guards and patients start disappearing.  When Aubrey asks a trusting guard why the patient's are disappearing he reports that they have been moved to a classified wing of the hospital that Aubrey and Anna are not allowed to enter.  Not letting that stop Aubrey she ventures to this mysterious unit to get to the bottom of the truth but it turns out to be bigger than she ever imagined and then is discovered by some of the staff.  Will she ever leave the hospital to let the truth out to the public and finally find peace for some of the patients?
