THE FIRE-KEEPER

As one of Her Majesty's Fire-keepers, the soal (solar coal) Viridian LeVoy collects provides energy and safety to thousands, and a paycheck that gives her the first real freedom she's ever had. But soal is growing scarce, and with it Viridian's own hope for a future she gave up everything for.

Riding the chaos of a looming energy crises, the Guild, the most infamous burgling syndicate in the empire, have resurfaced. Like all Fire-keepers, Viridian is in the way of their underground energy market. Targeted and without backup, she's chased into the unknown Far-Flung Territory, her own energy reserves near empty, and not only her job but everything she's come to love at risk. But don't worry, blokes: things can, indeed, get worse.

Among the massive forests and faultline-vapours of the Far-Flung Territory, Viridian stumbles upon two world-shattering discoveries: the true nature of not only soal, but the empire it fuels. Suddenly, all her loyalties - to her past, her country, and those she loves - are called into question. Problem is, neither the Guild or the Empire want her making up her mind. They've plans of their own. Perhaps even with each other.

Inspired by the land Down Under, the aviatrix of the 40s, and the leaps in space exploration taking place today, THE FIRE-KEEPER combines retro-futuristic rocketship dogfights, deadly megafauna, a dash of wild-west adventure, and a good dosing of snark. Action-packed and emotional, it will appeal to fans of action/adventure and speculative fiction such as FIREFLY, AGENT CARTER, and WYNONNA EARP.
