Althaea is far from your typical Career tribute. Unlike most of the other children of District One, she doesn't regard it as an honor to be part of the games. Althaea has continuously refused to train her whole life, much to her father's chagrin.
However, when the 43rd Hunger Games arrive, the odds are not in her favor.
Sixteen years of age, when Althaea is reaped to be part of the games, she realizes that she must learn how to fight, and fast. However, it isn't as easy as she had hoped, especially when she finds herself falling dangerously in love with another tribute.
What will become of Althaea while she acts as a pawn in the Capitol's games?
And, of course, who will win the 43rd Hunger Games?

No longer are the people of Panem outwardly tolerant of President Snow's murderous actions. Under the facade of a normal group of Gamemakers, several rebellious citizens have begun an experiment which, if it succeeds, will make use of technology both to rescue the tributes before they are dead and then deposit the brainwashed children back in time.
