Nico grew up with Percy, having been adopted when he was almost too young to remember. Since an early age, he knew he was different from the ones around him. He tried to fill in the void with alcohol and drugs, but nothing worked. When the lawyers told Sally who he really was, where he had to go, he finally understood why he was so different.
