After her parents mysterious death on her 17th birthday, Eva is less than thrilled to be celebrating her 18th one full year later. It doesn't feel right to be celebrating a birth on a day that a death so close to her, should be mourned. When she wakes up on December 21st, the day of her parents death, the winter solstice, and her birthday, she can't shake the feeling of unease from her head. Something doesn't feel right and someone is watching her, specifically, a man with piercing light blue eyes who has been appearing in her dreams. When unexplainable events start unfolding, Eva is thrown into a world that she doesn't even know exists and there might never be a way back to her secluded and safe lifestyle.

Why is he shaking me? "Do not call me that name." My eyes flew open as I jumped at the voice from my dream. A face was right in front of mine, and just like the voice, it wasn't Beau. Before I could form a scream, a hand covered my mouth. I tried to bite it but I couldn't get my mouth to open. He's too strong. I started to use my whole body to try to get away, but he crawled on top of me, holding me down. I pulled the hidden knife out from under my pillow and slashed as hard as I could at him, but he just grabbed my wrist and squeezed it until the pain made me drop the knife.
