Briona Carter's mom is dead. Her dad is hardly ever at home and the only people she has left are her best friends Trent and Tonaiya. Three friends each with their own story. They encourage her to stop being so sad and push her to go to a party where she meets the new kid, Jaycob Brown. The first boy who's actually interested and fascinated by her chocolate skin.
She finds that they go to the same school and is then faced with the task of helping him getting a B on his next test and she only has 5 weeks. During this time they both fall hard but the only problem is she thinks she's too insecure to believe in his love for her.
