When Kagome caught Inuyasha cheating on her with Kikyo again just after telling her he 'loves' her and 'can't live without her', she realizes he was only telling her what she wanted to hear so she would stay with ths group. Deep down, she knew his heart belonged to the undead miko, she should have seen this coming. But when she hears, and sees, that Inuyasha has allowed Kikyo into the group, she runs.
She runs into Sesshomaru and starts travelling with him. Slowly, Kagome develops feelings for him, and starts to see her as his mate.
