Andie has just been murdered. Well, not her, exactly. A boy named Zach has been murdered. So why does she remember his last moments? His fear, his pain? Why can she remember the knives as they come stabbing down? 

Because Andie has been haunted. Zach's spirit has attached to Andie, and now she shares his thoughts and memories. She can see his ghost, can talk to him, and other lingering spirits, too. That's not all the two teens now share, however. Thanks to Zach, Andie can pull spirit energy from the shale -- the place dying souls pass through on their way to the other side -- to summon wisps, enthrall the minds of others, and manipulate the souls all around her. 

Zach reveals to Andie that she can do these things because he could do these things. He was a wraithblood, a spirit warrior with a haunting soul of his own, destined to fight against corrupted forces of greed as they wrought havoc on the world. Now that he's dead, though, now that he's haunting her... Now she's the wraithblood.

There's ghosts around every corner in this house, and if we don't figure out what's wrong here, we might just become the next ones.
