My best friend pulled me into a pond one morning before school started and now everything's changed.

Lavender Petrova had a very privileged upbringing. Her family after all was very wealthy. She's been everywhere, seen everything. When the time comes for her to finish her elementary and middle grades in homeschooling she receives admission to the one place her experienced ear have never heard of. Mayweather Academy for the Gifted. Everything about it seems mysterious, she's never heard of it before and no one will give her answers. Something else she doesn't realize is just how gifted she is until she's literally pulled into a whole new reality. A reality full of magic and mystery. Magic, she learns, is amazingly surprising. But not all surprises are good. 

What happens when the a classmate goes missing along with the most important spell book in this new world? Will Lavender be able to save her friend along with surviving her first school year? Or will the dark magic that lingers in every dark crevice of her new world catch up to her?
