Everything Hurts
I knew what was coming later tonight, not only at home, but on the way there. I knew that reacting right now would just make it worse though. So I kept quiet and pretended that I was not dreading when I would be alone with the man that stood beside me, wondering when it became so normal to do so. Jason and Alicia have the perfect relationship from the outside looking in, but Alicia has kept her wounded spirit and body hidden well. After another one of Jason's violent rages that is impossible to hide, Alicia is finally able to get away from the abuse though. Screw it. I picked up the bottle of whiskey and cashed it. I got into my car and drove until I saw a bridge. I look down at the ocean crashing below. My heart started racing, so I took a deep breath and I sat on the railing. I began to gaze at the full moon. A cold gust of wind blew across my face and made goosebumps form on my forearms. I finally felt at peace, calm and free but the sound of a speeding car behind me jolted me back to reality. My heart begins to race. My lungs tighten as the walls seem to close in on me. Their staring eyes stab through my muscles as I turn stiff. Then I realize it. My mind and eyes looking for an escape. I want to run away. I want to leave. I suddenly feel trapped. For the first time, his blue eyes do not create that comfort mg heart yearned for all these years. "Wait, don't go," I said barely above a whisper, but Jack indeed did hear, almost as if he was listening for it. "Can you stay with me? At least until I fall asleep," I replied, watching as he slightly smiled and agreed to my request before coming over to join me in bed. It was then he invited me into his arms, just like how he had fifteen years ago. I rested my head against his chest, listening to his heart beating as he wrapped his arms around me tight. Smiling, I was happy in the moment, and the world didn't matter one bit. I was with my Jack and that was all that mattered. Yes, in the morning my problems would still be there, but for the night it was almost as if they were completely gone...Complete

"The fuck you are leaving me." His roar cracked through the hall like lightning. Ara didn't blink. She stood there, calm as death, done to her core. No tears. No tremble. Just a weary exhale as she turned her back on him - the one thing he never thought she'd do. Before she could take a step, his hand shot out, gripping her arm like he was holding on to life itself. "Where are you going, Ara!" His command shook the pack. But she wasn't his to command. Not anymore. Ara ripped her arm free with a force that made even his wolf recoil. "Don't. Touch. Me." Her aura slammed into him, cold and merciless. "You think I'll stand here and watch you mate and breed her?" she hissed, every word a dagger. His throat bobbed. "She meant nothing." She laughed - sharp, broken, brutal. "Yeah? That's why you were fucking her in your office? Couldn't even hide the scent of your betrayal." "Ara, it was a mistake-" She stepped closer, eyes blazing. "Your mistakes come in episodes, Alpha. Season one, season two, season three. You don't make mistakes. You make choices." He swallowed hard. "I don't need her. I need you." "Lies," she spat. "Every damn sentence you breathe is a lie. I can't even look at you without feeling sick." He flinched like her words physically hit him. "That female behind you?" she pointed, not bothering to glance. "Perfect for you. Go mark her. Breed her. Hell, fuck her for all I care." Her voice cracked - but she kept going, blade steady even when bleeding. "I don't need you. Not anymore." His knees crashed to the floor. The mighty Alpha. On the ground. For her. "Ara... I'm sorry. I'm really fucking sorry." His voice broke like he finally understood what loss tasted like. She stared at him with a sad, devastating smile. "Isn't it too late for that, Mate?" One tear escaped - and she crushed it away with her thumb. Then she turned. Walked. Didn't look back. But he didn't chase her. Because he knew. He didn't just lose her. He wrecked her.Complete
