When the food and water supply was running low and people were starving and screaming for help, the government decided to cut down the amount of people. They took the old, the weak, and malformed newborns, and "sacrificed" them on spot, but that wasn't enough. The people were having kids and the population was growing again, so they started the Choosing.
The Choosing is a cruel method of population control where everybody must be taken from their parent and tested once they reach the age of 18. Then, the subjects go through a series of inhumane tests to see if they are "worthy" of living.
When Terra is snatched from her family by the claws of the government, she does something nobody's ever done before.
She fights back.

Titans
Here are a few things you should know before you get started reading there are six titans with contracts and one without a contract and four children and one teenager and one of them of the seven (counting the teenager) is the "key" and there is one titan that is wanting the "key" if he gets his hands on him the world is doomed. Miclor is one of the titans that was supposed to watch over the children until the other six make their contract with them but he accidentally makes a contract with Alex one of the seven. Moniky, Miclor's older brother made a forced contract with Terra (the teenager). After Alex's mother died he went on a search to find the killer along with Miclor and the other titans. Miclor and the other titans are animals (can change into animals too, but you have to figure it out yourself and they do have clothes). Miclor was watching seven other children before them but they were killed but two a boy and a girl but he gave his sister the boy because he thought she could help him and kept the girl with him so he could watch over her and as she grew up and had Alex along with Terra (not blood-related). Terra disappeared and was forced to have a contract with Moniky. Now you have to start reading but the first part might be confusing when I put it on here and if it is tell me. In the future, science has found a way to re-animate the dead and make them pliant servants for the wealthy. They buy the units for 10,000 for a base model. More attractive units sell higher as well as the more physically fit the model is the higher the price. The units are used for anything and everything their owner wants, from household work to administrative duties, to even being sexual companions. They are each programmed with a hard drive in their brain that works like a computer and allows them to have a quick mind and agility, as well as nano machines in their body to repair any damage that can occur with normal usage. There are some people who still view the units as a dead body and have trouble interacting with them in their daily life. But most of the population is too poor to even afford one so this problem is left to the upper classes that can buy the units. For some, poverty is worse than death. The government took over completely but was quickly overrun by robots that they had created to enforce the newly created laws. As the robots continued to make more of themselves and become powerful, kids were mainly targeted as they were seen as bad to the mechanical monstrosity that was ruining the city. A teenager tried to keep most of the kids safe and hid them well, making sure they were safe with mothers and fathers who had already suffered losses of their own children being taken and enslaved. At the start of the government taking over, a group of people was forced out of the city due to their ignorance, according to the government that is. It became a comforting story to the scared kids that they'll come back and save them, told by the teenager who risks his life to save them.
