After living so long with her father and brother's abuse she decided to run away. She lives on the streets for a while until a family brings her in one winter and helps her attend school. Being the genius she is Skye was given scholarships and went from school to school in many countries, of course staying with homestay families. Eventually, she returned to Japan but did not decide to attend school. She continued living on the streets and utilized the friends and connections she always seemed to be able to make. One day the principal of the Iwatobi high school found her and took her in. When conflicts get too out of control she is forced to attend the only other school available to her; an boys school called Samezuka.
