Marc Anderson, a 44 year old ex-singer, widower, rape victim, and alcoholic. All he wants in life, he tells his quite affectionate companion (and maid) Maria, is to just go back to when everything was right, 15 years ago. But all he has is his memories, his maid, and the bottle.
One night, there's a knock on his front door. A little seven-year-old girl, Abby, stands there, shivering in the late November cold, with a suitcase behind her. Marc has no choice but to take this little girl in and take care of her, after Maria reveals little Abby's backstory.
After a few harsh words on a drunken night, Abby constantly ignores Marc, and his drinking gets worse. When the rough patch ends, will Abby eventually help Marc turn his life around?
