While travelling to a great festival held by an old friend, a great noble lady of the royal family of Aethusa is kidnapped in the middle of the night. Her personal guards are found bleeding on the main road, at close range from the host castle of the festival they were heading to. At her surprise, in the next few days she finds herself travelling in the company of a pragmatic thief, who is her kidnapper itself. At the same time, in that night, standing at a table from a hunter inn's upper floor, two people, an apparently former general and his fiancee are discussing intensely when a mysterious blonde-haired stranger interrupts them. The newcomer defies the man, so they go to another table to settle down the things. Not having noticed one that lurked them from the very beginning, the two men, caught in an intense discussion, observe too late that the general's bae was abducted. After the unfortunate event, on the verge of insanity, the stranger comes in handy as he offers to help the general in a journey to rescue his woman. For this purpose, they will have to appeal to an old friend of the blonde, who will prove later to be the doer of the perfect first kidnapping.

'They pulled the chair across from me out and sat in it. The tavern carried on when the figure made themselves comfortable. My grip tightened on the hilt of the dagger. They pulled the hood of their cloak off and unclasped it. Their movements were relaxed and unhurried. I ran my eyes over him. He had strange black, swirling tattoos on his neck and long, pointed ears. His clothes were plain. I crossed my arms and sat back in my seat, keeping my eyes on his piercing midnight blue ones. He cocked an eyebrow. "Well?" I narrowed my eyes. "Well, what?" "What's your business here?" "I should be asking you that, considering you silenced a room by being in it." "Fair enough." He paused as the bartender brought another tankard over. "I'm looking for a travel companion." His voice was as deep as the shadows surrounding us. "You're an elf... Don't they prefer to travel on their own?" "Fae," he corrected as he pulled a pipe out of thin air. A black wisp of smoke surrounded his hand as he did so. "But yes, we do. I, however, have had enough of my thoughts being my only company." I nodded. "So?" He raised his eyebrows. I shook my head sadly. "This is something I need to do. Alone." "Alright." He looked a bit disappointed, which was odd, considering we had just met. ' What happens when you're going to kill the Unnamed One and meet a mysterious fae on your journey? Do you trust him, or leave him? And what do you do when you find out what he's been hiding? Iowyn Aedithas is on a quest to save her guild. A quest that could potentially be lethal for her. She's an awfully brave (some would say naive) human to be doing this. Demons have been attacking her guild, and she's had enough. She meets Evaris, the mysterious fae, on her journey and he becomes her travel companion. When they reach their destination, he reveals information that's previously been held close.
