2 months after defeating the Kishin Asura, Death City has finally finished recovering and the DWMA has reopened to all of the students. After Maka finds out what's wrong with Soul, they get into an ugly argument and their soul wavelengths start to become unstable which leads to a switch in partners. Lord Death is holding a party for the student's hard work against the witches and the Kishin, but when that happens, Lord Death gives out two different announcements. At the party, Soul's older brother Wes walks in with all attention on him. This causes Soul to run away and have a break down.
