The track is always wet at the start of the day as the water truck is able to go out and keep it that way, but by the end of the day all the water will have been used so it will be bone dry and that's when the real fun begins. I pull the hydro, the chrome shaft that's connected to my rear brakes, to lock the rear wheels so I can initiate a drift. I feather the throttle accordingly as to keep the car sideways and continue onto the next corner... This is it. Nothing else matters. Just me, my car, their car and the sound of tyres tearing rubber against the drying tarmac... ~
~ "Laurie, you got something..." He trails off as his thumb brushes my lips enough to turn my head towards him. Before I know it, the space between us is closing and my body is frozen.
