It entered the Earth's atmosphere, a single-cell lifeform with one simple drive; to absorb, to assimilate...to liquify all organic matter. Mike, and his younger sister, Hannah, have just moved to London from New York. A new start after their parents recent separation. It's less easy for Mike, an introverted loner. Far easier for Hannah who seems to have made a gaggle of friends already. A new term at their secondary school is beginning and a small news story is playing on the radio in the background - the mysterious outbreak of some virus in Africa. Unimportant to Mike who really doesn't want to face another difficult term. But within eighteen hours...his world - everyone's world - is going to be turned upside down.
