It's the future, and a war has knocked out half of the human race. The jungle has taken over most of the land, and people live in tribes or groups deep within the forest. Every group has a population of at least 300, and all of the tribes are against each other. Naikee lives in a group called the Sowadan group, and they live in the south region of the world. Each group is forbidden to go past the gates that hide their villages. Naikee is sick and tired of living within the walls of her villages, and she's always wondered what it would be like to go past them. On the morning of her Celebration of Life (basically a birthday), she finds a whole in the wall and runs past the gates and into the wild. After days of traveling she accidentally runs into a group called the Kaiboo, which are one of the most dangerous groups in the world. They are known for their cannibalism, though no one has ever dared to enter their gates. Before anyone can capture her, a boy named Mika runs into her and takes her to a secret underground storage. He only goes to her and talks to give her the meals at morning, afternoon, and night. After several days of this same thing, Naikee finally confronts him and makes him tell her whats going on. They get to talking, and he comes back to check on her more often now. As she develops a crush and they fall in love, they don't realize but they might be changing the course of history. Note: I'm sorry about the spacing, I'm not exactly sure how to do this because it's my first story. Aldi lay on the cold floor, his heart racing and his body drenched in sweat. He had just experienced another nightmare, one of many that had been plaguing him as of late. In this dream, he was lost in a dense forest, pursued by an unseen creature that seemed determined to capture him. He had struggled and screamed for help, but there was no one to hear him. As he lay on the floor, trying to catch his breath, Aldi couldn't help but wonder what these strange dreams meant. He had always been a sound sleeper, but lately he had been waking up in a state of fear and exhaustion, feeling as though he had just run a marathon. He glanced at the old alarm clock on his bedside table, its bright red numbers announcing that it was just past four in the morning. In the distance, he could hear the faint sound of people reciting prayers at the mosque near his parents' house. Aldi sighed and sat up, rubbing his eyes. He knew he wouldn't be able to get back to sleep after the nightmare he had just had. He got to his feet and stumbled over to the window, looking out at the brightening sky. The sun was just beginning to peek over the horizon, and the birds outside were starting to chirp, signaling the arrival of a new day. Despite the fatigue and fear that still lingered within him, Aldi couldn't help but feel a sense of hope as he watched the morning dawn. Maybe today would be the day that he finally got some answers about the strange dreams that had been plaguing him.
