Alayiah McPherson's life changed forever at the age of 10 when her little sister Kylie was born with Leukemia. Three years later when Kylie's fight becomes too much for her, she passes away and Alayiah's entire family is engulfed in grief. A year later, Alayiah's twin brothers Noah and Kyle get in a horrible car accident on their 21st birthday, leaving Alayiah's older sister Allison unable to handle the loss. Allison moves away and no one hears from her until Alayiah and Allison's mom, dad and youngest brother Riley get in a car accident after Alayiah's graduation from High School. With their parents gone and Riley stuck on life support, Alayiah and Allison must make an unimaginable decision. Being on her own, Alayiah has no choice but to move with her sister Allison to Allison's new home in Boston, a huge change from her life in Los Angeles. Stuck in grief and loneliness, Alayiah falls upon an older boy, who helps Alayiah come to accept that darker times make a person who they are and makes life beautiful. That's The Art Of Pain, things must get worse before they get better.
