As the daughter of poor, lowly farmers with barely a penny to their names, Lilja Blom would never interact with the rich and famous, the proud and the royal. So, when she comes upon the body of a richly clothed, albeit dirty and bloodied, unconscious man in the forest, she knew her fate would be forever changed. The instant that Elthorane saw Lilja, he knew she was his. So, for the first years of her life, he looked after her, and always made she and her family had enough to survive without making them suspicious. However, just after her 10th summer, he was kidnapped by the royal guards of the human realm and tortured for information on the location of the others of his kind. And after 9 years, he was able to escape with no information given on his part. When he again sees his Lilja again, and this time as a beautiful young woman, his urges to claim her increase tenfold. But with the Kingdom of Kenair on their heels and the safety of an entire race hanging in the balance, they must learn to love quickly, or loose each other, and an entire race with them. {Every chapter will be unedited. He could hold her here for a million years and know that at the end of it he would never see her again, and it still would not be enough... ****** Lily's husband Alois has the most gruesome job in the Realm- serving as their insane king's loyal, royal executioner. Ostracized for her foreign origins and his bloody work, the couple are deeply in love and complacent with the service they provide to the kingdom. That is, until the king orders the execution of his queen and demands that Lily and Alois divorce so he can marry her. The couple's resistance only intensifies the king's madness as they are separated and Lily is made the new queen. But there are greater things at risk, as Lily seeks an escape and Alois fights to rescue her- the kingdom is unwell all over, and the king is madly determined to cure it.
