"He's dead." I tilted my head in shock. I opened my mouth, but absolutely nothing came out. Scarlett's voice was flat with no emotion. I heard someone bawling in the background and Scarlett huffed. She muttered something, but all I could make out was 'drama queen' and 'ex'. She broke our silence," Can you please come home?" By her voice, I could tell. She desperately needed me. I said," I'll come home, Scar." She said, softly, thank you Mads." I smiled, even though she couldn't see me. -------------------------------------------- Life for 16 year old Maddie McLean is harsh when her best friend's boyfriend dies in a serious motorcycle wreck. When she comes home to comfort Scarlett, she meets a drunk Mason in her bed. She also discovers some news that makes Scarlett's mom abandon her. Then Mason and Maddie become closer than before.
