Seraphine Carr always knew she was different.
It was pretty obvious ever since her mother first lay eyes on her- her eyes are red. Blood red.
And she's cold blooded.
Seraphine's friends channel their brilliant powers of ice and air, while she discovers that her powers are that of fire.
Since fire was ruled out maybe twenty hundred years prior since it was believed to be the cause of global warming, Seraphine is quarantined.
"You are special," she was told. "You are brilliant. You are a legend.
"But you are dangerous."
Will Seraphine escape her confinement and learn to live on her own terms in the ruins of Earth? Will fire somehow benefit the health of Earth? Will Seraphine be a refugee living in busy cities of Iliark with new identities?
