Candles were usually my only source of light and I often sat comparing myself to them. When a candle is first lit it burns so bright, it has the potential to keep others warm be a source of light and to destroy but as time goes on the was starts to melt and the candle becomes weaker until there's nothing left but a darkness. That's what happened to me, I was born with potential, I was going to be the next alpha my lineage was strong and pure but that all changed when my pack was massacred and I was kept as a trophy by the rogues to show off their strength, their accomplishment, I tried to stay strong but just like a candle I got weaker and all that's left now is the darkness. All I need now is a spark of something, anything to reignite the flame I thought was lost so long ago to become an unstoppable force that will destroy anything and everything in its path for revenge.

He grabbed me, and I felt tingles go up my arms. I started to thrash around trying to get out of his grip. As much as my wolf wanted him, I didn't and I wouldn't give in. "Let me go, dammit", I practically screamed at him. "No. You're mine", he screamed back, sending shivers down my spine as I began to relax into him. I jumped suddenly scared that if I didn't stop myself then I would never want to go. I knew what I had to do. "I, Emma St. Germain, reject you, Aiden Douglas, as my mate." I sent him a pitiful look as he fell to the floor, through the mate bond I knew he was in pain. "I'm sorry," I whispered before running as far away from him as possible. ***** She didn't want a mate, she just wanted to survive long enough to avenge her family.
