Just before episode four ends, Jefferson decides to kidnap both Max and Chloe.
Knowing how close they are he decides to destroy two youths at once by letting Chloe witness her own friend in pain and humiliation.

Most people are ok with Max and Chloe being a couple but they find someone they know quite closely doesn't agree. There love grows stronger over the years and is made stronger when Chloe want to make that love last forever. TRIGGER WARNING!!! I do deviate from game story and add in themes of self-harm.
