When Lily was six, her father and twin sister died in a car accident. Lily almost died, too. In fact, everyone thought she had. They couldn't find a pulse, or a heartbeat. The shock they gave her to try to jump-start her heart was only a formality at that point. But she lived. No one knew how. She had been clinically dead for at least four minutes. That was how long it took the ambulance to get there after her ten year old brother called the ambulance. It was like some kind of miracle had occurred. 10 years later, Lily is living with her mother in the city of Horizon. Unlike her, she is haunted not by the memory of her father and here sister - who she hardly knew - but by the dreams. Dreams of a place she has never been, somewhere that she thought existed only in her imagination. This place had first shown up when she was "unconscious" after the car wreck. The most vivid memory from those dreams is a young boy, with eyes of an impossible blue and gold. She always wakes up right before he can touch her or speak to her. When she meets that boy in real life, she begins to realize everything is not what it seems to be, and that what she thought was her imagination could be the only thing real left in her life.
