PLEASE NOTE: This is a spin-off to Music Therapy, and although it can be read as a stand alone novel, you will get more out of it if you read Music Therapy first.

Nathan Morrison grew up in a very God and Christian music centered environment. His parents - although it was mostly his Mom - taught him from a very young age about the healing powers of God's music.

So when he's assigned as a peer mentor to Brittany Peterson and catches a glimpse of the struggles she's going through with her faith and relationships, he decides that he'll bring his favorite Christian CD to life through their peer mentor sessions.

When she was little, Alexis had it all. Rich parents who she believed in her heart loved her more than anything else, a huge house, a Nanny to take care of her while her parents were at work, and anything else she needed or wanted. And then, one night that she thought would be like all the others tore all of that apart. Now, she and her mother barely make enough to stay alive, their poverty heavily due to her mom's nights in the bar, forgetting about life. Younger siblings come, then leave in abortion, through Alexis's mother's love life, and the one person she'd actually learned to trust again is newly dead by cancer. And her mother has just remarried the person she used to call "Daddy". Her only real friend is the razor that stays in her pocket or on her arm through the thick and the thin of life. Then, while her parents are on their honeymoon after getting remarried, with nothing to do and oblivious of the religion... or relationship... behind the bands she's going to see, Alexis goes to a little concert by the name of Winter Jam, with no real concept of what she's seeing besides a love of Skillet, a bare idea of Britt Nicole, and the songs she listens to by NF on her way there. When a chance meeting with a stranger turns into getting drug to the meet-and-greet line for a not-so-chance meeting with Colton Dixon, Alexis has no idea that it will change her life forever. But with a leading of Holy Spirit on his heart, and a glimpse of Alexis's arms under her sleeves burning in his memory, Colton finds it impossible to stand oblivious to the downward spiral he can see in Alexis's life. But it's a spiral she gave into long ago, and it will take every ounce of strength either of them has in them for Alexis to rise above the world and into the arms of Christ.

Diane's life has been marked by a strange and tragic pattern-every time she falls in love, something catastrophic happens to the person she develops feelings for. At 21 years old, Diane has learned to guard her heart with a cold, distant demeanor to prevent anyone from getting close. The pain of losing those she cares about is too great to risk again. Her early childhood, however, tells a different story. When Diane was just 10 years old, she fell in love with a boy named Jack Sanders. Their innocent friendship turned to something more, but tragedy struck when Jack died after being hit by a swing in the park. The loss shattered Diane, but it was just the beginning of a haunting pattern. At 12, while on vacation in Germany, she fell for a boy named Lucas. They shared a beautiful day hiking, but that evening, a tragic accident led to Lucas's untimely death. Since then, Diane has tried to keep her emotions in check, but it hasn't been easy. Despite her best efforts to stay distant, she maintains a tight-knit circle of friends-Jana, Angeline, and Kaitlyn-who remain by her side, despite the strange and eerie aura that surrounds her. They know her past and the burden she carries, but they continue to support her. Diane is trapped in her own personal nightmare, unwilling to let anyone get close, but longing for the connection she's too afraid to seek. As she navigates adulthood, Diane struggles with the fear that her curse-her ability to unintentionally bring death to those she loves-will forever keep her isolated from the one thing she desires most: love without tragedy.

Ben and his wife, Kayla, are foster parents who take in kids who have met with unfortunate circumstances and traumas in their lives. While trying to help as many as he can, Ben also struggles with his own insecurities, which can be traced back to his childhood when he lost his best friend, as well as learning to navigate his own, personal walk with Jesus. Soon, he meets Kimmy, a quiet, mute kid who reminds him so much of his childhood best friend and is afraid there's more going on than what's on the surface. But as Kimmy slowly opens up, he learns she's just a sensitive soul like him, carrying a burden she shouldn't have to carry. (This is a realistic-as-possible story while still being fictional about foster care and the kids who are placed in care. I have both researched how things for the state of Arizona's Department of Children's Services are handled and from foster parents on YouTube)
