Young and Broken / The Scorch Trials

[Based off of the movie of The Scorch Trials so if you haven't watched the movie don't read until you have]

Katherine, also known as Kate, never knew that the end of the human race was actually going to happen. She was only focused on school, family, friends, and teenage problems. The day the solar flares hit changed her whole being. Her mindset was now focused on surviving with the rest of her family through the heat, famine, chaos, and disease. The chance of actual survival were slim even after years of fighting. Only some of Kate's family made it through the years. From the five family members, her brother, James, and herself have made it to what is known as The Scorch. Of course, whatever is brewing there is a complete mystery to them considering that they haven't been in contact with any of the great organizations of the world.

James takes it upon himself to lead his little sister and do whatever it takes to keep her alive no matter the cost. When they come across one strange looking high tech base in the middle of a barren wasteland, James becomes curious of the unknown. With unfortuate events and breaking news, they meet a group of unique teenagers that drag Kate into the wonderful mess of WICKED's plans.

Will Kate find trust in the strange boys who say they are good people? Will she choose to stay with them or will she vencher off like a vulture in search of a hopeless happy life?

But most importantly, will she break?

I randomly thought of this idea and decided that I really wanted to write a story that starts off in The Scorch. I am still trying to find other pieces to this puzzle so it'll sound good, but so far I have a really good beginning. Idk if this will be a romance story since Kate is going to be rather young, but if you want her to have a love interest then that is totally fine with me ;) It would be better if you tell me sooner than later.
