The Runaway

Today she turns 17. It's August 28th, 2017. She's almost able to leave this horrible place they call "home". No, this was not her home, this was never her home, this was a prison. She stayed in her room every day and only went outside for school and when she snuck out of the house when her parents didn't notice. She had cuts and bruises from previous nights from her father and has also gone starving for days because her mom just didn't care. They kept her in her room and would rarely let her go out. But little did they know that the window on the second floor of her room didn't always stay locked.
