I didn't like the ending of Mockingjay, so I'm writing a new ending. We are backtracking a little bit, and now, the war is over, Gale is in 2, Peeta and Katniss are in 12, Snow is dead. However, there is a new leader, and she has created something that is the most important thing to Katniss, but in order to get it, you have to win something Katniss never wanted to be in again... The new Hunger Games. Will she
be in them? What is it she needs so badly? Read the book to find out! Everything in this book is credited to the best author in the universe, Suzanne Collins.

But he'll be watching, every moment, every twist and turn, and willing me to come home." - Katniss Everdeen, The Hunger Games Katniss Everdeen is fighting for her life in the 74th Annual Hunger Games. We know her story. But have you ever wondered what it was like on the home front, in District 12? This story is Gale's, his outlook on the games, his feelings about his best friend's situation, and his interactions with the people of District 12. The story is set during the time period of "The Hunger Games" (book one of the trilogy). It is written from the perspective of Gale Hawthorne, and does not concern any events in books two and three. This is my first fan fiction, my first "real" attempt at long form prose writing, and my first Wattpad story. I appreciate constructive feedback, but please, no hate. While the characters and some plot points are based off of Suzanne Collins's Hunger Games Trilogy, (which I in no way own the rights to) I have created this story using my own imagination. Please do not attempt to recreate it in any form. Additionally, if ideas in this work are similar to that of other writings, it is purely coincidental and I apologize deeply for any inconvenience. What if Peeta and Katniss never teamed up? What if Katniss finds trust in the most unlikely person? When Katniss volunteers for her sister, her only thought is to make it back to Prim. This story takes place between the last page in Mockingjay and the Epilogue. The Capitol has FINALLY left Katniss and Peeta alone, or have they?
