Jamie is just trying to go through life as easily as he possibly can, but him being gay wasn't entirely helping him at his high school. He used to be happy there, he had a boyfriend, friends, but that all changed in one day. His parents love him and would do anything for him. They support him and he's lucky that he's has them. He just doesn't tell them what's going on at school. But this isn't about that. When he finally opens up about it his parents helped. They moved. Switched schools. Jamie was starting to be happy, but he still had trust issues from previous events. When he's finally accepted what happens when a certain Mr. Parker introduces himself.

Mr. Quinn presses his face closer to Rylan's so she has to turn her head to escape his hot breath. He lets go of her left arm and grabs her chin roughly, forcing her to look at him. "I. abhor. you. And all students like you. I'm in the position of power here. You'd do well to remember that." ~~~~~ If Rylan had it her way, she'd be going to school, hanging out with her friends in her free time, and returning home every day to two loving parents and the safety of her home.
