Since the beginning of time, the stories that are remembered, the stories that are told by men are those of war, of battle, of loss and triumph.

The names of those who have wrought destruction throughout history are better remembered than those who have brought about peace.

So why did the world think that there was even a remote chance that we could change a deeply rooted tradition of war into one of peace?

The human race might just have to learn this lesson the hard way, the way that history always seems to remember.

***

Somewhere in the changed world, a girl wakes up from a coma only to realise that she's utterly alone. She doesn't know where she is or how she got there. She doesn't even remember who she is or anything about the life she led before she woke up.

Everything seems different, it seems... off somehow, though she can't say why.

Not only does she have to remember who she is but she also has to find a way to survive in a new world where it's either kill or be killed.

In the heart of Texas, beneath the ruins of a nation that once stood as the world's last superpower, they awaken. Fifty-five thousand soldiers, warriors of the old world, preserved in cryogenic sleep since the twilight of America. With them, their families-men, women, and children frozen alongside the last true remnants of the United States Army. It was a desperate gamble, a contingency plan set in motion by a government that saw the end coming but refused to let the dream die. If the worst should happen, if the bombs fell, these soldiers would be the ones to rebuild. The worst did happen. The world burned. The United States was reduced to ash and legend, just another name lost in the howling chaos of the wasteland. And for 29 years, the vault's technicians kept their watch, aging in silence, waiting for the day the world would be stable enough to wake them. That day has come. In 2106, the chambers unlock. Ice cracks, breath returns, and the army of the past rises once more. They step into a world that is not their own, a world that has forgotten them, a world where law and order have given way to might and madness. But they were not preserved to be forgotten. They were not sent to sleep so that the dream of America would die in the dark. They will reclaim the land. They will rebuild the nation. They will finish what was started. But the wasteland is not a battlefield. It is not a war they were trained to fight. And in this new world, the old rules mean nothing. If they are to bring back the United States, they will have to earn it. Not with guns, not with power-but with will, with sacrifice, and with the sheer, unrelenting belief that America is not just a country. It is an idea. And as long as they stand, it will never die.

So yeah, you've all heard the story told by many. About how embracing nuclear power instead of fearing it would lead to having technology advanced quicker, you'd be partially correct about that... The year 2234 was the first and last time humanity was wrong about this statement. After the threat of WW5 many countries were locked into the doctrine of MAD (mutually assured destruction) if war with this power was to happen. But, worry not as many smart people did many smart things like make the Pip-Boy a kind of personal computer strapped to your wrist, there was also the assist bots (creative, I know) who helped the common folk with menial tasks, and stasis chambers or more commonly known as cryogenic pods (cryo pods for short). Well, after some undisclosed country(ies) launched their nukes at both the north and south poles, the world as we knew it was being flooded. People from all over the world had scrambled to try to get to their local vaults that were built by Vault-Tech to try and weather this worldwide catastrophe. Unfortunately, like many stories began the entirely of the human race was not fortunate. Nearly the entirety of the human populace was wiped out. There were was at least a few known places like Alterna and Vault 111. Well, like all the other places, they didn't last long. Alterna went into the dust after a failed attempt at flying a rocket into space to try and find a more suitable planet for humans. And almost every Vault had some sort of problem from a lack of power to improper oxygen filtration to radiation leaks. Well there was one Vault that's in an undisclosed location in a place called Vault 069 and it held the best and brightest people. This is the story of one of its only surviving residence lived with the new life that was created after ~12,000 years of not being seen. This is the story of a man nicknamed The Savior also known as (Y/N) the last remaining human on earth or at least what's left of it.

Growing up you didn't have the best relationship, he never put you first and liked to hook up with girls and Party instead of being a father. In 2006, at the age of sixteen you were kidnapped when you had run off after your dad skipped out on yet another important event in your life. Hydra had taken you and tortured you...tried to break you. You were given many different experimental serums and forced to fight. You eventually meet a mysterious man who goes by the name "The Winter Soldier". But you just call him Winter. Training was tough...but you survived it because of Winter. You grow to care about him...that is until Hydra took you away and threw you into Cryo. Waking up was a blur, but you were blindfolded and taken to a new facility where you earned a few special abilities. You found your father again...everything was strange. He had changed and was now dating his assistant. And he was part of something called the Avengers. The world ended long ago, riddled with plague and zombies and destruction. But humanity survived, and humanity evolved. The Infection that helped bring the world to its knees also changed humans in ways to help them keep living in this now broken world ready to be rebuilt. Seven lineages with three strains each, and each have their own unique set of traits that help us survive. But that's not what this story is about-at least, not really. This story isn't about how a hero will rise and bring the world back to what it was Pre-Fall. This story is about me, an ordinary Remanat living life through the world day to day as a mercenary. A beginner mercenary as everyone likes to remind me. The others in my group have been calling me 'Rookie' since I joined them three months ago. I'm beginning to wonder if they actually know my name. We have been hired to help the New Reach Caravan travel across the wastelands to Philly Del Phia, and this is the perfect opportunity to show them that I'm not just a dumb Rookie. I'm actually quite good at my job. I just happen to get distracted by one certain Eight-Ball, but it's not my fault he's good-looking, and charming, and funny... Anyway, all I have to do is help my group get the caravan to Del Phia. Should be an easy enough job. Just avoid the zoms and keep clear of the Raiders, and we should be fine... Right? Disclaimer: I do not own Zombies, Run! or its characters, nor do I own Dystopia Rising LARP. This is just my Rookie's reaction to the Dystopia Rising New Adventure in the Zombies, Run! App.
