Broken Wings

The air was slightly moist from rain a few days ago. It was different than earth. The trees were a greenish colored and smelled like sweet ginger. They were unusually tall and covered most - if not all - of the planet. Except for the teal blue oceans of course.
there is a small opening between two trees on a large island. This opening held a cave with a pitch black inside. That is except for the little green floating orb the size of a grain of rice. That little grain-of-rice sized light was a portal to the unknown. Many of the inhabitants have seen the light, but none have gone into the light.
The inhabitants, the things that live on this planet. Humans right? Wrong, they are far from humans. They are kind of a wolf in a way, except they do have special abilities they can be born with. They can be born with flight (wings), super speed (70-85 tops), invisibility, strength (stronger than the average rock), elemental (fire, water, earth, etc.) The rarest two are future vision and healing. The ones that gain either of those abilities are special, but both are considered to be a legend.
