Cornelia and her brother Roman live in a world were certain things exist. Things that you would typically find in mythology and fairy tails, like fairie, mermaids, dragons, or werewolves. This world would sound really cool to most people. Others not so much. Cornelia and her brother, being a the few of a rare species is kind of hard. Especially when your trying to hide and you stick out like a sore thumb. Every place they go they use different names, not getting to close to others for fear they will be caught in the crosshairs of their enemies. It's stressful and scary. It puts a huge toll on Cornelia since she's the main reason why they are after the siblings.

There's not a lot that can freak me out in this world. Only large animals with sharp claws, too many people touching me, bullies, hives, horror movies, sitting underneath fans or lights or anything that dangles from a ceiling, glass or wooden bridges, my mother, mosquitoes, public situations, taking a shower with nobody in the house, taking a shower with too many people in the house and crocks. Oh, and zombies. Zombies is definitely on that list. It's almost a shame too, that I have to race through a city packed full of them to find my missing family. Packed full of zombies, by the way, not crocks. (Although I don't know which situation is worse.)
