Best Mistake:

"So this it...?" My voice was desperate, my heart had began to thump slow and hard, my breathing heavy. I was holding on, holding onto any once of hope at that moment, praying that she would change her mind. After ten years of marriage, and now i stared at her as she gave her back to me, she busied herself packing her bags. She refused to make eye contact with me, though i could hear her soft and quiet sniffles.

"Munira, look at me please." I begged. I never begged, Munira knew that better than anyone else.

She finally turned around, and what I saw before me, was not the Munira i had married ten years ago. This Munira was sad, had bags under her eyes, and looked as if a demon had sucked all the light, happiness, and laughter out of her soul. Then it hit me, I was that demon. I had caused her years of heartache, broken promises, and countless tears. Maybe this was for the best, maybe I did deserve this after all.

"What?" she finally said. Her voice was soft, and she was trying to sound strong, but nonetheless. I heard the soft cracking of her voice at the end, as I watched helplessly as a tear fell down her soft cheeks. "What do you want now? You have everything you need, you have a beautiful home, beautiful children, and a successful career. You don't need me, i'm just a burden to you. This is for the best. So please don't make this hard."
