“Crossing Paths” tells the story of Katniss’s life a few years after the events in Mockingjay. She has a daughter, Mockingjay (aka Jay), who is 14 years of age. Life is going pretty smoothly until Gale Hawthorne comes back to District Twelve for a visit. Despite what everyone thinks he comes to deliver a terrifying message. Former President Snow has a granddaughter who wants revenge. When Melody comes to Twelve, she warns Katniss to stay out of her way. Once she leaves she goes to the Capital and overthrows the government. She recreates the Hunger Games and requires all of the rebellion leaders’ children to participate, including Jay. As Katniss, Peeta, Gale, and a group of former rebel leaders fight to get the kids out alive; Jay is faced with the terrible decision. Will she make it out alive? Or will she die trying to protect someone with whom she has grown dangerously in love with?

Nate Odair has finally been reunited with his mother Annie Odair and is happily living with her and her caregiver, Laura Everdeen, in District Four. Breccan Hail is in Thirteen still trying to get over his father, Fyron's, death while the tributes Calla and Julius haven't been seen since the ending of the Games. And where is Jay Mellark one of the causes of this mess? Back in District Twelve doing absolutely nothing to help the cause. Just as she's getting used to the boring routine everything is turned upside down when news of a bombing sends her world crashing down. As things only continue to get worse she's faced with a decision. Will she stay with her loved ones to help them through these hard times? Little did she know that everyone now hates her. She's been living in a jail cell in the capitol and only eats once a week. Her life isn't very good. Gale: A Hunger Games Story

We know her story. But have you ever wondered what it was like on the home front, in District 12? This story is Gale's, his outlook on the games, his feelings about his best friend's situation, and his interactions with the people of District 12. The story is set during the time period of "The Hunger Games" (book one of the trilogy). It is written from the perspective of Gale Hawthorne, and does not concern any events in books two and three. This is my first fan fiction, my first "real" attempt at long form prose writing, and my first Wattpad story. I appreciate constructive feedback, but please, no hate. While the characters and some plot points are based off of Suzanne Collins's Hunger Games Trilogy, (which I in no way own the rights to) I have created this story using my own imagination. Please do not attempt to recreate it in any form. Additionally, if ideas in this work are similar to that of other writings, it is purely coincidental and I apologize deeply for any inconvenience.
