"its always on christmas, isn't it?" Holly Matsfeild is a fifteen year old girl born on christmas day in the year 2000. On that same day, five years later, her parents died in a horrific car accident. Holly has been a bit "passive-aggressive", as she likes to call it, about the christmastime. The bright lights and christmas carols only remind her more of her parents death, thus locking herself in her room every christmas, as her cousins put her gifts outside her door. But she knows that this year will be different. Why? Because she realized, every five years, something big happens on christmas. her birth. her parent's death. her dog's death. whatever is next has to be good, right?

Of course she doesn't always stick her landings. At first her landings are as messy as is her life. She's lost her mother, her family home, her faith and now thinks she may be losing her mind. Supercilious self-absorbed Amy (17) has the uncanny ability to get others to do what she wants. She says, ever so sweetly, "I'd prefer..." Dad always called it "wrapping others around her little finger syndrome." If she wanted she could ask a perfect stranger to hand over his car keys and he'd have to oblige. The oldest sister Meg (21) has dreams and visions about the world's near future. She's also very intuitive. Perhaps if she were better at seeing her own future maybe her personal life wouldn't be in shambles?
