Scholarly

Aspen Secondary Academy: it's the dream of every academically-inclined teenager in Colorado. One of the most prestigious high schools in the nation. Nearly impossible to get into. And students aren't just trying to get in - they're vying for scholarships. The prize everyone wants a piece of - the President's Circle Academic Scholarship - grants anyone scoring in the top 1% of private school entrance exams in the United States a full ride through ASA. The odds of earning the scholarship are so improbable it's barely worth contemplating. But for some, it's more than a distant dream. That's the case for Sydney: bright, vivacious, bubbly, artistic, outgoing. Born without the use of her legs, but determined not to let that define her. And for Vivian: intense, a perfectionist, sharp, calm, prepared for anything. Of all the people at ASA, she seems, more than everyone, to have everything together - but that couldn't be further from the truth. Along with their classmates, ASA's 2020 President's Circle Scholarship recipients are about to take on freshman year the only way they know how: in an unforgettable fashion. NOTE: This story is a loosely-autobiographical account of my own high school experience. Many, many characters and events are based off of my experiences and it's packed with inside jokes and allusions, so this will probably make far more sense if you go to my school, but I hope you like it even if you don't.
