Scarlet suffers from depression, lives in a home where she isn't wanted, and her cousin Jaime, her best and only friend, is dying of bone cancer at stage four. When he does die she is introduced to Gage Rose, Jaime's friend. Becoming friends with her helped, and as he slowly figures out her past and present, he begins to try and help her. Both slowly helping each other heal from Jaime's death, Scarlet and Gage begin to form a friendship stronger than any binding possible.
