A young child neither woman nor man sits on a train, eating a subway sandwich. They can feel all eyes on them, and they know why. 'Are you a boy or a girl?', was a common question asked. They never answered with the truth, because it would only make them hurt more. No one respected them enough to use their preffered prounouns. It was 'she' and 'he' and 'little girl' and 'grown man'. So they took action and left society behind.
