After Madeline Gilbert, the twin sister to Elena Gilbert, and her best friend, Delaney Lockwood, are sent to boarding school for causing chaos in Mystic Falls they forget about their hometown and try to move on with their new lives. That is until Delaney's father, the one that put them in that prison, dies. Now they're back, and both the girls and the town have changed immensely.

Their town is now the home of the supernatural and the girls have discovered some secrets of their own. When being reunited with their families and friends, how far will they go to protect the people they love?
