Zia lived fairly happily in the kingdom of Kile even though she lived in the slums with her mother. One day when she was getting medicine for her mother she witnessed a horrifying scene in the middle of a market place: a child getting whipped, and no one did anything to stop it or help the kid. It was then that she learned just how awful the country was.
Eight years later a group of rebels that call themselves 'The Black Lotus' are gaining popularity and followers. Their goal: to take down the corrupt government and rebuild it. While she admires what they are trying to do Zia refuses to have anything to do with the group since anyone who comes in contact with them are labeled traitors. The punishment for that is form them and their entire family slaughtered by the Royal Guards.
When everything Zia cares about is threatened will she accept the offer to join the rebellion to protect what little she has left?

ALBANIA, 1948. There is a rift in the socialist camp. Yugoslavia is expelled from COMINFORM. Albania splits from Yugoslavia and repledges allegiance to USSR. The book investigates the backstory of the two mates (both fatherless, in love with the same woman), the causes of their quarrel and their strange path to spiritual redemption. Parallelly, it deals with two important events in Albanian history, one of them being the notorious BLACK OP during which heavy weaponry was hidden in the Franciscan Monastery of Shkoder by State Security forces.
