This is an urban fantasy that revolves around a young girl who finds herself in the midst of revolution in the occult word hidden within the busy New York City. This is a story filled with magic and lies and a world much bigger than the characters themselves. But most importantly this is the story about growing up and the struggle of characters such as Zara and Mystery who are trying to grow up and understand themselves while the world around them is falling apart.

A/N (I know this is a really vague summary. I just don't know how to explain it without giving things away)

Zaedy is a 25-year-old woman who has spent her entire life believing in a lie. Kidnapped by her own father, she is forced to confront a terrifying truth: her whole existence has been an elaborate deception. Far from the image of a corporate CFO in a multinational company, her father is the most feared vampire hunter. The leader of an ancient, brutal bloodline-her family, known for generations as merciless killers, committed to the eradication of vampires. What happens when Zaedy is thrust into a world of danger, deception, and deadly politics. One wrong move, one slip-up, and the fragile peace between vampire factions could collapse into an all-out war. Her father and the vampires believes she's just a normal human girl, capable only of following orders and wielding a weapon, nothing more than a pawn-a helpless human who poses no threat. But what they don't know is that Zaedy has been hiding a dark secret. A secret so powerful, so terrifying, that the thought of it would send even the most hardened vampire into a frenzy of fear. Zaedy is not who anyone believes her to be. Beneath her innocent exterior lies a past so tragic, so filled with pain, that it has molded her into something far more dangerous than anyone could ever imagine. A tragedy that could shatter the delicate balance of power in a world ruled by vampires. What happened to Zaedy? What hidden truth makes her more lethal than even her father, the vampire hunter, could ever comprehend? As the stakes rise and the tension builds, Zaedy will be forced to confront her own demons-and the terrifying realization that the line between hunter and hunted is far more blurred than she ever thought. This is a story of betrayal, hidden power, and the brutal weight of a past that refuses to stay buried. With tragic moments and gut-wrenching revelations, Zaedy's journey will take her through darkness and bloodshed, leaving no one-and nothing-untouched.

Sora has no place in the world. She is meant to be a strong warrior, with the ability to shift into a wolf. She is none of those things, and looked down upon because of it. It brings shame to her, it brings shame to her family, and worst of all, it brings shame upon her prideful and strong brother. There is but one person who truly knows and loves her, but does he really? Magic is not the weapon of a warrior, magic is the weapon of a coward. Sora has been told that all her life, but she has magic within her, recently awakened, and so she has begun to doubt it. Still, witchcraft is punishable by death, and so Sora must be careful with her practices, lest she lose all she has. Sora is a better witch than wolf, though not by much, but she still pursues that craft in spite of the dangers. Her place in the world is a dangerous one, but will it last? The world she lives in is a dangerous one, and such a life as hers rarely ends happily. Disclaimer: this is a short prequel, Sora's story does not conclude with this one. If you finish this book and go "oh, that's the end?" it's because it's not the end. I'm writing a trilogy called Mortance that explores the larger world that this takes place in and concludes Sora's story more thoroughly than in this book. Go read that next if you like my writing, thanks. Please leave any and all criticisms you might have, anything you like and anything you dislike, I want to make this as good as I can. P.S. the cover is literally just a drawing I made in physics class, I know it's bad, I'm not an artist.
