Dean knew he was dead the second he said "I volunteer as tribute".

He had broken his only promise to his little brother Sam: that he wouldn't get picked at the reaping. But sure enough, Sam's name was read off that little slip of paper. And Dean wouldn't have been able to live with himself if he'd let Sammy die in the Games.

Dean finds himself ripped from district 12 and thrown into the craziness that is the Capitol. Strange clothes, advanced technology, and more food than he could even imagine. But he doesn't forget why he's there. He is a tribute to compete in the annual Hunger Games, a battle to the death for children 12 to 18. Dean knows he's going to die. Only one can make it out of the arena alive. The odds are not in his favor whatsoever.

But one day during training a boy catches Dean's eye. Castiel, from district 11. Strong and reserved, a perfect ally to have in the games. Maybe there is some hope in surviving after all.

However, Dean soon realizes just how complicated survival truly is, especially when you fall in love with a boy you're supposed to kill.
